Why No Promo Codes in Ontario
Searched for a PlayOJO code and came up empty? That is the rule working, not a broken link. Here is what the Ontario rules say about casino offers, and where Ontario players actually find them.
- 2.05 Standard
- 2022 in force
- playojo.ca Ontario site
PlayOJO Promo Code in Ontario Did Not Work? Start Here
If you typed a code you found somewhere and nothing happened, you did nothing wrong. In Ontario, casino offers simply do not travel by public promo code any more, and PlayOJO never leaned on codes in the first place.
Most of the frustration we hear about comes from four situations. Pick the one that sounds like yours.
- The code was rejected or did nothing
- There is nothing to repair on your side. The code most likely came from a page written for another country or from before 4 April 2022. Ontario offers are shown to you inside playojo.ca after you log in, so that is where to look, not in a search result.
- I found a code on a forum or coupon page
- Treat it with care. Under the Ontario rules, public bonus ads are not allowed and operators answer for their affiliates, so a genuine Ontario code published on an open page would be a problem in itself. If a site says it has a secret code, it is guessing.
- I ended up on playojo.com, not playojo.ca
- Check the address bar. Ontario players use playojo.ca, the site listed in the iGaming Ontario directory. The Canadian pages on playojo.com are built for the rest of the country, so what you see there may not match what you get as an Ontario player.
- I logged in and see no offers at all
- Look in two places: the Kickers section, which is where PlayOJO puts its daily hand-picked offers, and your Rewards, where gifted items such as OJO Wheel spins appear. What shows up varies from day to day, and availability depends on your country.
Still stuck? Live chat is open 24/7 once you log in to your account. Ask the agent what is available to you today; it is quicker than any code hunt, and the answer comes from the people who actually run the offers.
The Rule Itself: AGCO Standard 2.05 in Plain Words
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario sets the Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming. Standard 2.05 is the one about advertising, and it has been in force since 4 April 2022.
The AGCO explained the rule to operators and the public in a notice published on 16 March 2022. Stripped of legal wording, these are the key points:
- Public advertising of inducements, bonuses and credits is prohibited.
- That covers targeted ads and algorithm-based ads too, not just billboards and TV.
- Once a player chooses to visit an operator's gaming site or app, offers may be displayed there.
- Offers can be sent by direct marketing, but only to players who first consented on the gaming site itself.
- Consent given on a third-party website does not count.
- Operators are responsible for what their marketing affiliates publish.
You can read the AGCO's own explanation here: Important information about advertising and marketing in Ontario's new igaming market. It is short and worth five minutes if you want the source rather than our summary.
Honestly, we think the rule is a good one for players. It moves the offer conversation off billboards and into a place where you can see the full terms in front of you, on the operator's own site, when you have already decided to be there. It also explains why every page promising an Ontario bonus code looks a bit suspicious.
- A secret code unlocks a better Ontario bonus.
- Ontario offers are displayed on the operator's site or app, or sent to players who opted in there. There is no hidden public code channel.
- No public ads means Ontario players get nothing.
- The standard limits where offers are advertised, not whether they exist. You simply see them after you arrive on playojo.ca.
Where Ontario Players See PlayOJO Offers
Forget codes. For an Ontario player, the route to any PlayOJO offer is short and always goes through the site or app.
Choose to visit
Go to playojo.ca in your browser or open the PlayOJO app. That choice is what allows offers to be shown to you under Standard 2.05.
Log in and look around
Open Kickers for the daily offers and check your Rewards for anything gifted to you. Read the terms for each one on the site before you take part.
Opt in if you want messages
If you would like offers sent to you, give that consent on playojo.ca itself. Consent collected on other websites does not count in Ontario.
What you find once you are inside
This is where PlayOJO is different from the usual casino setup, and why the missing code matters less than it seems. The brand is built around rewards without strings rather than a big code-driven welcome package.
No wagering model
PlayOJO's promise is no wagering on any reward, free-spin wins paid as cash, no max win on free spins and no minimum withdrawal.
OJOplus
Money back on every bet, on every game, paid into your OJOplus balance in real time. You collect any amount whenever you like.
Kickers
Hand-picked daily offers, challenges and free extras that last 24 hours. You find them in the Kickers section after logging in.
Reel Spinoffs
Live slot tournaments every day with a leaderboard. Entries go through Kickers, so you only see them once you are in.
The OJO Wheel
A free wheel spin gifted as a reward, on a new level, at random or whenever OJO feels like it. It lands in your Rewards; it is not a daily spin.
OJO Levels
Points on every game with no cap. Climbing the levels unlocks rewards, and your progress shows on the Levels Map.
Availability depends on your country, and we cannot promise that every one of these features is switched on for Ontario on any given day. The practical test is simple: open PlayOJO, log in and see what your account shows.
We describe features as PlayOJO describes them on its own pages. We do not list amounts or terms here, because in Ontario those belong inside playojo.ca.
Ontario Casino Bonus Rules: Before and After 4 April 2022
A quick side-by-side of what changed when Standard 2.05 came into force. Short cells on purpose; the notes underneath fill in the detail.
| Topic | Before 4 April 2022 | Now, Standard 2.05 |
|---|---|---|
| Public bonus ads | No AGCO standard | Prohibited |
| Targeted ads | No AGCO standard | Prohibited |
| Offers on site | No AGCO standard | After you visit |
| Direct marketing | No consent rule | Opt-in on site |
| Third-party consent | Not addressed | Does not count |
| Affiliate pages | Not addressed | Operator responsible |
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
Before 4 April 2022, this standard did not apply, which is why older pages still carry codes and headline offers aimed at Ontario players. Since 4 April 2022, the standard draws a clear line: a player has to choose to visit the operator's site or app before an offer is shown, and marketing messages need consent given on that site.
The last row is the one that matters most for pages like ours. Because operators are responsible for their affiliates, an affiliate page for Ontario cannot do what bonus pages used to do. That is why this page talks about how offers work instead of printing them.

Browse the LobbyOntario vs the Rest of Canada
PlayOJO runs two Canadian front doors, and which one you use depends on where you live. The difference is about where offers can be shown, not about the PlayOJO way of doing rewards.
Rest of Canada: playojo.com
Players outside Ontario use the Canadian pages on playojo.com. Here the current welcome offer is listed on the public Kickers page, and the operator is Skill On Net Limited under its Malta Gaming Authority licence, MGA/CRP/171/2009. Even on these pages, no promo code is shown.
Ontario: playojo.ca
Ontario players use playojo.ca, listed in the iGaming Ontario directory of regulated sites with Skill On Net Ltd as operator. Under Standard 2.05, offers appear only once you choose to visit the site or app, or in messages you agreed to on playojo.ca. What you see there is the offer that applies to you.
The two sites share the same idea of a casino: no wagering on rewards, cash wins from free spins and a no-strings approach to cashing out. The age rule is 19+ in Ontario. For what the rest-of-Canada pages list and how PlayOJO rewards work in general, read our PlayOJO bonus guide. If you live in Ontario, treat that page as background reading and check your own account for anything live.

Our Check: What We Looked At and When
Rules and offer pages change, so here is exactly what this page is based on and the date we last looked.
Checked the iGaming Ontario directory of regulated sites. playojo.ca is listed, with Skill On Net Ltd as the operator.
Read PlayOJO's Canadian Kickers page on playojo.com. It lists the current offer for Canada outside Ontario and shows no promo code.
Read the AGCO notice on advertising and marketing in Ontario's igaming market, published 16 March 2022, and matched each point above against it.
We did not test a code on playojo.ca, because there was no code to test. If PlayOJO or the AGCO change anything we rely on here, we will update the page and the dates above. For the licence, fairness testing and account security side of things, see our separate look at whether PlayOJO is safe to use in Canada.
Play within your limits. PlayOJO has deposit limits, reminders, cooling-off and self-exclusion in the OJO Safeguard section of My Account. In Ontario, ConnexOntario and PlaySmart are there if you need to talk to someone.
PlayOJO Ontario Promo Code FAQ
Is there a PlayOJO promo code for Ontario?
No. We could not find one, and under the Ontario rules there should not be one floating around in public. PlayOJO does not build its rewards around codes anyway. Ontario players use playojo.ca, and whatever is on offer there appears inside the site or the app after you choose to visit, not on a coupon page.
Why do casino sites in Ontario not show bonus codes?
Because AGCO Standard 2.05 prohibits public advertising of inducements, bonuses and credits, including targeted and algorithm-based ads. A bonus code posted on an open web page is exactly that kind of advertising. Operators may show offers once a player has chosen to visit their gaming site or app, or send them to players who consented on that site.
What is AGCO Standard 2.05 in simple terms?
It is one of the Registrar Standards for Internet Gaming set by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, in force since 4 April 2022. In short: no public bonus ads, offers only on the operator site or app after you arrive, direct marketing only with consent given on the gaming site itself, and operators answer for what their affiliates publish.
Where can I see PlayOJO offers if I live in Ontario?
Go to playojo.ca or open the app and log in. Check the Kickers section and your Rewards, which is where PlayOJO places daily offers and gifted wheel spins. If you would like to hear about offers by message, give that consent on playojo.ca itself. Availability of each feature depends on your country and province.
Will a playojo.ca promo code from another website work?
Do not count on it. Consent collected on third-party sites does not count under the Ontario rules, and operators are responsible for their marketing affiliates, so a public code for Ontario would clash with the standard. If a page promises a secret code, treat it with suspicion and look inside your playojo.ca account instead.
Does the no-wagering promise apply to Ontario players?
The no-wagering promise is how PlayOJO runs rewards: no wagering on any reward, free-spin wins paid as cash, no max win on free spins and no minimum withdrawal. It is a model rather than a single promotion. For what is live on playojo.ca right now, read the terms on playojo.ca itself.
Can I use playojo.com if I live in Ontario?
Ontario players use playojo.ca, the PlayOJO site listed in the iGaming Ontario directory with Skill On Net Ltd as operator. playojo.com carries the Canadian pages for the rest of the country. If you are in Ontario and land on the .com address, switch to playojo.ca before you open an account.
